Hisense Announces Double Carbon Commitment at ESG Global Leaders Conference
Hisense Group Chairman Jia Shaoqian yesterday announced the company’s new “Dual Carbon Pledge” and outlined Hisense’s latest initiatives to make green development a vital pillar in “Building a 100-Year Hisense” at the 2024 ESG Global Leaders Conference in Shanghai.
Hisense’s dual carbon commitment aims to achieve peak carbon emissions from its operations no later than 2026 and carbon neutrality from its operations no later than 2050, while integrating low-carbon concepts into all aspects of the company’s corporate governance and operating practices.
“Hisense takes a ‘long-term’ approach to implementing ESG practices under our ‘comprehensive structure’ and ‘global action’ strategy, which is an integral part of the company’s commitment to ESG development,” Mr. Jia explained. “The company has established a ‘5+1’ global network of regional research, production and sales centers. This is in line with the ‘local for local’ approach, which aims to ensure the company contributes to and serves local communities while reducing logistics costs and energy consumption.”
Representing the company’s first formal declaration on carbon neutrality, Hisense’s Carbon Neutrality Action Plan “Hi GREEN” will focus on three key areas to support the company’s low-carbon transition strategy: maximizing energy efficiency; accelerating the development of a low-carbon supply chain; and driving the iteration and optimization of low-carbon products and services.
Hisense has established one global Lighthouse Factory, three carbon-neutral factories, and 14 national-level green factories in China. Hisense aims to reduce its carbon intensity by 40% by 2030 compared to 2023. By 2025, the company plans to include more than 2,400 suppliers in its carbon management system, accounting for about 50% of its total suppliers. In addition, Hisense will encourage 40% of its suppliers to set their own carbon reduction targets.
Hisense’s high-end, energy-efficient and high-quality home appliances have won the trust of consumers around the world. In the future, Hisense will continue to research and develop innovative green technologies to improve the lives of millions of households around the world.
